Easy to reach and yet just far enough off the beaten track for peace and tranquility, this working farmstead setting will suit everyone.

Coombe Lodge is on the edge of the delightful hamlet of Plainsfield with the Quantock Hills – waiting to be explored – rising above.

The Quantocks are criss-crossed with footpaths and bridleways – and many guests bring their mountain bikes as this area is ideal for adventurous off-road exploring. The Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty covers approximately 9,500 acres of woodland, open moorland and ancient drovers tracks. The views are to die for – from the top of the hills, on a clear day, you can see right across the Bristol Channel to the hills of south Wales in one direction and across the Vale of Taunton towards Exmoor National Park in the other. Whatever the time of year this unspoilt part of Somerset will send you home with some wonderful holiday memories.

Back at the farm you cannot help but love the free-range chickens – they are sure to come visiting to see if anything is left over from your breakfast! A herd of cattle graze the fields and you may be lucky enough to be there when there are new born calves to see.
